March Progress Update
Hey friends!
Last month we worked on a few updates on Deep Teams, improved our proposal process with partners and started working deeper on a community onboarding. From a BD perspective, I’m still refining the narrative to founders and VCs and currently synthesising it in a deck.
I have also posted the article we wrote before EthDenver to Medium. Below is a shortened version in a slide deck:
Treasury Balance: ~USD $15,438
$1,228 USDC
0.21 BTC (~$14k)
0.06 ETH (~$210)
Revenue: $61,750
(YieldNest, EthDenver MetaGov Sessions)
Profits: $6,900
Internal payments: $5,100
(Deep Teams)
Operational costs: $820.98
(slightly increased, mostly because we were using Figma with clients)
Last month, I didn’t reimburse myself for the software costs to keep BTC in the same wallet, which I did now for February and March.
Improving collaboration with clients and partners
During two of our most recent projects we encountered misalignment on expectations and misunderstandings about deliverables. After reflecting on our processes, it seems like the branding sprint had too many time-based constraints, which created friction on both sides of the project. In addition, planning a very long project ahead of time made it difficult to account for unexpected events. We have decided to split larger proposals into individual milestones, as well as allowing for more flexibility in the design of the visual identity.
Over the course of the next projects, we will pay closer attention to detail on all expectations and requirements and define everything together, before sharing the full price.
Community onboarding and education
We created a rough journey for new contributors to get involved with Deep Work, as well as having an educational experience around the nature of work in a decentralised organization. So far this is a work in progress and we are considering to work on an MVP for a game that makes the experience fun. Join our conversation here.
Updates to Deep Teams
There are a few updates on the database that might create a few small issues on the project creation. Please let me know if you experience any problems and I’ll forward it to Denis and his team. Most recent updates include:
Only people who are part of the organization are visible in the project creation dropdown (when selecting someone for a role).
Separating roles into tasks, including a task list for each role that can be visibly checked.
Goals/hazards for projects, teams, roles. This will act as a field to visualise to everyone the current and ongoing KPIs and OKRs.
Each role has a base payment attached which can be used to calculate the project cost. The total budget is shown in the side bar.
You can now add the client payment hash to each project. This will allow us to distinguish external projects from internal projects and visualise profit and expenses better (more on that over the next months).
Writing essays and articles
As mentioned in the last newsletter, I am focusing on establishing deeper relationships with others in the ecosystem and writing digestible, public material. I am always happy to receive feedback and co-author content. Feel free to comment on existing essays here or make suggestions if you’d like to write something together.
Have a nice start to the month and hope to see you all IRL soon!
