Hello friends!
About a week ago I departed from Japan and the wonderful humans at Akiya Collective. I deeply enjoyed contributing to the project and can highly recommend following the project.
Today’s update comes from MetaCamp, an event in Costa Rica. It’s a refreshing and safe space around a community motivated to collaborate, help each other, and design better forms of human coordination.
Treasury Balance: ~$5,567 (incl. liabilities ~$2,091)

0.06 ETH (~$176)
Revenue: $0
Profits: $0
Internal payments: $2,700

Operational costs: $776
The numbers above show our treasury balance across wallets and in brackets our balance after subtracting internal payments and operational costs. I will make all outstanding payments in a few days, once we have completed an ongoing branding project and received the payment.
Focus on BD and pause on Deep Teams development
Savannah and I have been working on a deck about Deep Work’s value prop to funds, VCs, and project ecosystems. This month we want to focus on refining it based on feedback and re-structuring our website (also thanks Bence and Sergey for the feedback!). Getting this right is a priority, so I decided to pause the development of Deep Teams until we are in a healthier financial position.
If you’re interested in giving us feedback on the two deliverables, you are more than welcome to leave comments on Discord in the respective channels for the deck and website.
Partnerships
As mentioned last month, I am working on establishing closer relationships with value-aligned funds and teams. We are currently working with EVM Capital to help write a proposal and have started writing content about emerging forms of organization related to “the future of work“. I will share more details soon.
This month we will also start working with our friends from RaidGuild to explore how we can collaborate and connect our communities to increase our impact on the web3 ecosystem.
Positive feedback on our organizational design
Lastly, I want to share that I’m receiving a lot of positive feedback on the organizational design we created over the last few years.
While many challenges remain ahead of us, Deep Work resolved many pain points of open organizations, especially around alignment, accountability, autonomy, and ownership of work.
Based on some workshops I have facilitated, we also seem to be on a positive trajectory toward designing environments that bring out the best in people and make work more enjoyable (and “feel like a videogame“).
