Discover Meaningful Work

In the last newsletter, I explained how you increase your decision-making power. Today I will share with you how to discover meaningful work and examples for a few opportunities.
The more meaningful work you do, the more you can influence the future of Deep Work.
TL;DR
Go to the “Projects” tab in the Deep Teams app and filter all projects with the “Applications Open“ state to see the projects you can participate in.
Once you found something interesting, reach out to any of the team members or the project owner - you can usually find them on Discord.
Now it’s your turn!
The proposal described in the last newsletter issue was not only meant to visualize the value of the work and provide a governance surface but also to open up a set of new opportunities to make Deep Work flourish and decentralize… me.
By taking ownership of work that contributes to Deep Work’s organization, we can slowly distribute decision-making power away from me, while staying focused on the common goal.
There are three main ways of getting involved:
Shadow a project without contributing:
For example, join our Organizational Design sessions with Collab.Land (7pm GMT, May 11th) or look over my shoulder as I’m working on the Deep Work protocol.
Take ownership of existing functions:
For example, become a Solutions Architect on the new finance dashboard
New projects or undocumented functions:
For example, suggest to Lucia and me how we can improve Deep Work’s social media presence
Or let me know if you have an idea for an R&D project
Connect to a team member and get started!
In order to get started, you need to establish a relationship with the person who is responsible for including you in the project and decide on your preferred style of participation. Currently, you will have to find the name on Deep Teams and either find them in Discord or ask how to contact them in a public channel.
In my personal experience, shadowing ongoing work has proven to be the best way to get started and offers excellent learning opportunities.
